Older Persons Grant

The SASSA old age grant offers extra care and old age home resident facilities. You should pass the SASSA means test to qualify for this grant.

  • Eligibility Criteria: To qualify for the older grant, you must be 60 years old or above. 
  • Monthly Stipend: If you are the approved beneficiary of the old age grant, you will receive a monthly stipend of R2090 from the SASSA. If you wish to live in an old age home, you can shift to the nearest one providing extra care and medical support.

Care Dependency Grant

The Care Dependency Grant is especially for the disabled, mentally ill people who require special care. 

  • Eligibility Criteria: The children having severe disabilities or mental diseases. To qualify for this grant, proper medical reports and the condition of the children will be checked.
  • Application Process: The caregivers can apply for this grant online, but you must submit the medical report.
  • Monthly Stipend: The monthly stipend of the Care Dependency Grant is R2090.

Disability Grant

The disability grant is for the disabled person who is unable to work due to some disability. It’s temporary and permanent, depending on your disability. If, within one year, you didn’t recover from the disability and your grant has expired, then you can reapply for a disability grant.

Child Support Grant

  • Eligibility Criteria: If, as a parent or caregiver, you are responsible for a child under 18, then you are eligible for this grant.
  • Application Process: To apply for the application, you must provide your personal details and child information.
  • Monthly Stipend: The monthly stipend for the child support grant is R510.

Foster Child Grant

If you are taking care of a child who is not yours and is under 18 years old and placed with a foster care child, according to the court, this is the Foster Care Grant—the Magistrates Court selection of the foster parent.

  • Eligibility Criteria: If the Foster Grant Child is available with the family according to the court order legal status. You have to show the legal documents as proof that you are the foster parents for this child.
  • Monthly Stipend: If you are the approved beneficiary of the Foster Child Grant, you will receive a monthly stipend of R1130.

Grant-In-Aid

If you are the one who can’t take care of yourself and you need someone to take care of you then you can apply for the Grant-In-Aid. This grant is for those individuals who are old age, disabled or need ongoing special care due to mental or physical disability.

  • Eligibility Criteria: If you have a special disability and can’t perform the task itself without taking the assistance of someone.
  • Medical Assessment: You must show the medical report that you need someone to assist you with your daily tasks.
  • Continuous Care and Support: You will receive ongoing support until you can do all of your tasks.
  • Monthly Stipend: The monthly payment of the Grant-In-Aid is R510.

War Veterans Grant

If you are a soldier who fought in the Second World War (1939-1945) or the Korean War (1950-1953) and is unable to support yourself, then the War Veterans Grant is for you.

  • Eligibility Criteria: The War Veterans Grant is available for those in the armed forces and disabled who can’t work. The individual age must be above then 60 years.
  • Monthly Stipend: The monthly payment for the War Veterans Grant is R2110.
